All I can say is WOW! From almost getting stuck in the rocks and water in the buses to making cacao this trip for me has been the most fun so far. On our way there, we stopped and visited Panama; the river we were on the Yorkin is between Panama and Costa Rica. The tribe is matrilineal which I thought was pretty cool and they speak both Spanish and Bri bri. We learned a lot about their history and after that we got to cool off in the river. I only put my feet in, I didn’t want to be soaking wet. Then we ate and played soccer with some of the tribes youth. Their team won (I was on it), they were really good soccer players. Then we made cacao, and it was delicious when we dipped bananas in the chocolate. Our ride back was mostly uneventful but we saw a snowy egret, a blue heron and a turkey vulture or so. It was really nice on the water. We saw a few cows when we were back near the buses and are returning to our hotel. Hasta luego!

Fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like traveling around Costa Rica to the remote areas has its own challenges and adventures. I bet you never forget it. (Aunt Vicky)
ReplyDeleteSo chocolate does not grow on trees in candy bars? Nice to know that you had your own world cup in CR and that you were on the winning team....you know all the great international teams (except perhaps from Latin America) trade players from around the world....
