Hello again! Yesterday, we went to the sloths…they were so cute and I wanted to take one home. After our tour, we ate lunch there and it was really good, we had mashed potatoes, chicken, carrots, beans, and ice cream for desert. Then we went on a boat ride around the area and saw A LOT of animals. We saw emerald basilisks, howler monkeys, a humming bird, fish, 1 million crabs, and other animals. Then we went back to the hotel and we relaxed for an hour or 2. Cate and I were in our room relaxing when Cate called me over to the bathroom because there was a frog in there. Jorge came into our room and helped us get him out to safety. We played a little soccer after that and I went back to the room to take a shower. When I tried to turn the knob I thought had the hot water it didn’t work and so I turned the other knob on. Before going to the beach, we washed our hands as if we were about to perform surgery. Before we could even go to the beach, we had to find Cate’s lanyard which we could not leave the room without. It turned out that it had been in her backpack the whole time. We had to do that because we had to get the chemicals (sunscreen, bug spray, etc.) off our hands, otherwise we could hurt the turtle that we got to hold. There were two turtles we let into the ocean yesterday, we named them Slappy and Fred. Slappy was the first to reach the ocean but Fred took his time. After that, the representative from WIDECAST; the NGO that helps the turtles, gave a 2 hour presentation. After dinner, Cate and I went to the front desk to ask about our shower and had to be moved to a new room because there was no one at the hotel who could fix the shower at 8:00. We went to bed at around 10:00 but before that I had a scare with my camera. I thought I had it but apparently I left it at the restaurant. We were woken up by a group of noisy howler monkeys at 4:45 AM! They were so loud and annoying although it was cool to be so close to them. We are now on the bus on our going to go canoeing and will meet a native tribe. Adios!

hi Katherine,
ReplyDeleteIt's mom and dad....we finally figured out how to follow the blog!
Sounds like you are having a great time.....did you know that I have worked with the founder of the WIDECAST organization, a guy in his 90s, when I was going to meetings in Jamaica?
Watch out for the frogs....guess these are not poisonous
much love
