You Know You Are in Trouble When......

Today has been exciting...... no, interesting, (scratch that), a typical day with my group of kids.......the good news is everybody showed up on time, (see pic # 2) the bad news....well note to self, don't let Braden have Starbucks before getting on the plane. (especially, when he's never flown before and REALLY nervous......he doesn't shut up!

So.... today we had the opportunity to experience "you know you are in trouble when" scenerio.
For instance, You know you are in trouble when ...you go check in at the airline terminal and are told your passport is not valid! Right Emily? Don't forget to sign it!!

Or perhaps you know you are in trouble when.... you see the pilot walking toward you in the aisle of the plane at a low altitude of 2500 ft and the auto pilot is not working!

So guys, what were your " You Know You Are In Trouble When......" experiences for the day?

All Packed and Ready to Go!

Well, Brandon and I have finally finished packing--notice the cool DSA luggage tags? For those of you who know me, it's probably not much of a surprise that I finished at 10:30 PM the night before departure. In fact, that may be record early!

For those of you who are traveling with us that don't know me, one of the students has affectionately named me "Auntie Costa Rica." If I were a betting gal, I think I'd take the bet that the name is going to stick. So, Auntie Costa Rica it is!

I'm excited to be a part of this incredible journey with some amazing students from the East Tennessee area. It is sure to be quite an adventure. I'm really looking forward to ziplining the most. For those of you traveling along, what are you most excited about?

See you tomorrow morning!

2 MORE DAYS TILL WE ARE THERE!

Happy Friday!  Only Two more days till I get to see all of you and I am VERY excited and am looking forward a LOT of fun!  Remember to recheck your packing list and limit cottons- they tend to never quite dry.  I fit all my clothes in a rolling carry on suitcase- even with the technology we bring from the
Base Camp in Spokane.  Be ready for fun and adventure.  -Treana Kay, Program Operations

Wet- Wet- Wet..Be Prepared!

Costa Rica is extremely wet; right now it's called the rainy season for a reason! So be prepared: When you are packing, please take that into account. Try to limit cotton items as they do absorb moisture. Moisture wicking wear, nylon and spandex are good at keeping you dry yet also drying quickly. By laying these items you can stay warm (if it gets too cool for you).
Another important item to know is to avoid Jeans. Wear clothing that breaths, allows for great movement and is comfortable whether wet or dry!
Alix and the first groups also brought up the point that two swimsuits are always better than one and that way you are not putting on a wet suit!
An extra suit won't take up much room and we will be in the water a lot!
